Between the Rivers Vouga and Mondego the Northern Way runs through the municipalities of Águeda, Anadia and Mealhada. The landscape is marked by plains and low-lying vine-bearing slopes, fruit trees and cultivated farmland. Against this rural backdrop you can find significant urban centres, towns and historic cities.
This is also the wine region of Bairrada, where the richness of the soils and the mild climate are propitious to the adaptation of various casts for producing excellent red, white and sparkling wines. The name bairrada aptly translates the characteristics of the clay rich fields that are so favourable to planting grape vines.
The cultural heritage is rich in monuments and cultural displays. In terms of cuisine, there is the famous leitão da Bairrada (Bairrada suckling pig) and the excellent wines that go with it. In Mealhada, once the stage has ended, you can find some delicacies.
