This stage connects the town of Ansião to the settlement of Bofinho, deep in the hills and municipality of Alvaiázere. Until then, it is worth visiting, in Ansião, the Cal Bridge, which crosses over the Nabão River, on the banks of which Queen St. Isabel is said to have bathed, the Green Park, the Parish Church and the Church of Mercy. Leaving Ansião tests the physical endurance of pilgrims. Therefore you can buy in the town the pine nut cakes and lesmas, typical dry biscuits made of olive oil and cinnamon, before continuing on your journey. Near Venda do Negro you enter the Ecological Park of Algarinho, Gramatinha and Ariques, the largest Iberian area of Portuguese oak trees, a characteristic species of Sicó. This park is home to more than eight hundred vegetable and animal species, among which are wild orchids which we should all protect. The main path of this route runs through farms and picturesque settings before arriving in Bofinho. If visiting Alvaiázere is part of your plans, in Venda do Negro opt to take the alternative route through the village (22 km), where you can visit the Municipal Museum.
