From Ponte de Lima to Tamel (S. Pedro de Fins), this stage essentially runs through rural and agricultural areas and is therefore very quiet, offering a peaceful and tranquil hike.
Throughout the day you will pass through the municipalities of Ponte de Lima and Barcelos, where the Fátima Ways coincides with ancient pilgrimage routes, especially the Way of St. James. The area south of the River Lima offers a backdrop where geography and history intertwine. Water is plentiful in the riverside meadows, dotted by small agricultural villages.
Near the villages, but also along the old routes, there are churches, chapels and old monasteries where the austerity of the Romanesque, built by the master builders of the 12th and 13th centuries, live side by side with the exuberance of the Baroque art, created by architects and master sculptors from the 17th and 18th centuries.
