Over the São Mamede Plateau.

This last stage will take you to the Sanctuary of Fátima, covering around 15 km. The great challenge is the initial ascent from the Candeeiros mountain range to the Aire mountain range, where nature imposes itself with rugged slopes and characteristic rock formations. The degree of difficulty is high, but you can appreciate the beauty of the landscape and the mountain streams to make stops to rest, refuel and enjoy. The surrounding landscape is unique and, on days of high visibility, the horizon extends to the sea.

The next part is a serene descent surrounded by vegetation and trees, which opens onto the São Mamede Plateau. You will find a scattered population in small, welcoming villages, surrounded by farmland, dotted with olive trees, oaks and holm oaks, and you can delight in characteristic colours and flavours.

The path crosses the parishes of Alvados, Alqueidão da Serra, São Mamede and Fátima, in the municipalities of Porto de Mós, Batalha and Ourém. As you approach the final destination, the markedly rural setting is punctuated by signs of urbanisation. This is a territory where ancestral traditions and contemporary experiences converge. The Church of São Mamede, the Moeda Caves and the village of Pia do Urso are reference points of local heritage. The tradition of Marian worship here is ancient. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fetal is also close by.
