Ucanha - Lamego

This stage can be combined with the previous one (Moimenta da Beira – Ucanha). If so, the journey will total 30 km, but pilgrims will not have the opportunity to follow the variant through Leomil, which adds approximately another 3 km. For these reasons, there are advantages to dividing the route into two stages, allowing for a more enjoyable experience of the territory and a better opportunity to discover the fortified town of Ucanha. This option also makes the following, more demanding stage shorter, allowing more time to explore and stay in the city of Lamego. Within the municipality of Lamego, the Way heads towards the Monastery of Ferreirim along a steep dirt track that climbs to the parish church of Mós, followed by another steep ascent towards National Road 226. After crossing the road, the route continues along Rua de S. Domingos, Rua de Magustim and Rua da Costa towards Britiande. The next destination is the Church of Santiago de Cepões. After passing the church, the Way continues towards Moimentinha, then crosses the A24 motorway via an overpass leading to São Martinho do Souto. It is then time to descend along a steep, cobbled slope. At the bottom, cross National Road 226, already within the boundaries of Lamego, and continue downhill towards the bridge over the River Balsemão. The route then begins to climb along Rua da Ponte da Calçada towards the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Desterro. Continue along Rua de Cardoso Avelino and Rua Macário de Castro until reaching Rua Direita on the left. You are now close to Lamego Cathedral, in whose churchyard this stage comes to an end.
