Starting in the municipality of Santa Marta de Penaguião, this stage takes in the inspiring landscape of the Alto Douro Wine Region, with vineyards from the Douro to Santa Bárbara, before crossing the Rio Sordo. Not long ahead, you'll cross the national road to Parada de Cunhos, heading for Vila Real, with the historic centre to explore and, if you have the time, it's well worth to visit Vila Velha. In the "old court of Trás-os-Montes", roast kid or veal with rice in the oven and maronesa steak are among the specialities.
