Vairão - Porto

During this stage from Vairão to Porto is predominantly an urban route and therefore we recommend that careful attention is paid during this hike, especially when crossing roads with traffic.

Throughout the day, you can pass through municipalities within the Porto metropolitan area, such as Vila do Conde, Maia, Matosinhos and Porto. As you go south, the population density increases and the surroundings become more urban. Throughout the entire route you will find support infrastructures for taking short breaks.

During your hike you can get to know essential parts of the local architectural heritage. Churches, monasteries, museums, architectural groupings and urban centres that maintain and celebrate past history, but you will also find more recent expressions of cultural and artistic creativity.

Upon arriving in Porto, Portugal’s second largest city, the stage ends near the Sé cathedral of the city.
